We begin a New Month and cycle of growth and creativity with our New Moon in stability and security-minded (sidereal) Capricorn on Tuesday, January 20th.
The Sun and Moon join forces in the Lunar Mansion Uttara Ashadha.
Saturn, ruler of the Capricorn Sun, is in Scorpio. The Sun and Moon are in a productive sextile with Saturn as we begin our new lunar month.
We begin a three week Mercury Retrograde, also in (sidereal) Capricorn, on January 21st, during the New Moon phase.

A time of reflection with a desire to move in a new direction. What is worth taking with you as you move forward and what should you leave behind before you move on? Where can security and stability be found?
Make sure you have a good idea of where you are heading before you set off and what you can expect to find there before you take a risk and invest your time, resources or energy.
Take time to consider and evaluate just what is worth pursuing and what is not.
The New Moon Phase
The new moon is a time of new beginnings and new directions.
A time for planting new seeds of growth.
Each new moon creates a transition to a new story or adds an unfolding chapter to an existing story.
Activities begun now will reach a climax during the full moon later this month.
This is the perfect time to go within, meditate, contemplate, journal and do dream work.
Visualize where you are headed – both spiritually and emotionally this month.
Empty out and clear away the old to make room for the new emerging energies.
Reclaim your life and release the things that limit your progress.
Allow any old wounds or patterns to surface to be consciously acknowledged and released.
It is important to let go of any limiting or restricting thought patterns that you are harboring. If they are not released, they will definitely limit the potential of this month’s journey.
If plans are lined up to be carried out – begin them now.
If the future still feels unclear, take advantage of this quiet time to create space and allow the possibilities to emerge.
Try and remember, this is a transitional time, and things cannot be hurried. The seeds of tomorrow are germinating and require tender care and patience.
